Everyone is building UAVs now, they are not difficult anymore and there's lots of kit suppliers out there too.

10 years ago a UAV was quite a difficult build and would take 2 years of development time. Today, all the components are available off-the-shelf.

A business focusing on UAVs would be quite good, but $25,000 would disappear VERY fast.

For a start, you'd need to spend $10,000 to $20,000 on software. Then there's the microcontroller development systems, another $2000, then there's the materials, another $1000 to $3000.

Should we go into the tools list?

PCB manufacture.
Mill.
Molds.
PC.

I forgot the parts needed to build the first UAV.

$12,000.

A licence for Solidworks will cost $11,000 to $20,000, depending on options selected.

I'd be suprised you'd only need $25,000. A good start would be $80,000.

If all you want to do is make composite materials for the airframes then $25,000 would be ok.
