Well, put your programmers to work on that problem! They know themselves and their workload best, so they should be able to develop something for you.

MS probably has something, but you might want something more intense, and the only thing I can suggest is a web search.

Take a look at phpCollab. It's an open source knock-off of Macromedia Sitespring. I used Sitespring briefly before Macromedia pulled the plug on it and thought it was useful.

The other option is to outsource your project management. We used someone on a project-by-project basis and paid him something like 10% of the project cost. The added benefit was that he helped us develop a workflow methodology.

Microsoft Project Manager is an amazing project management tool. Not only does it give you step by step instructions on how to get projects organized, but once you have listed everything you need to do, it will find ways on making you more efficient. I really recommend looking into it.

I've found the book "Getting Things Done" by David Allen to be very helpful. Its not about managing employees, its about managing a heavy workload and it gives you a really good strategy for managing your time.

Believe it or not, "Project Management for Dummies" is a very good way to learn the ins & outs of project management.

If you can not or don't want to invest in a course, then I suggest you pick this book up. It will cover all the basics, and all the important aspects of project management.

It's worth checking out.

You might want to checkout the local Project Management Institute (PMI) chapter in Montreal. They are a non-profit organization dedicated to educating people and businesses on proper project management methodologies and techniques. Great way to network with others managing projects, compare notes, and increase your knowledge on the topic, etc.

Apologies if I have misread your post, but you didn't mention anywhere about the kind of process you are following on your project. You asked if anyone has a project management method or software for this. Well this worries me somewhat since even the best project management software tool is no substitute for project management best practices. What I mean about best practices is that you should conduct the activities that thousands of project managers have carried out on thousands of projects. These could be summarised as:
define the scope and objectives of the project
define the deliverables - what are the tangible outcomes of the project both at the end and at stages during the project
plan how you are going to accomplish these deliverables
communicate the plan to everyone on your team and make everyone fully aware of what work they need to do and what their responsibilities are
define how you are going to monitor progress - daily/weekly meeting/progress report etc
manage changes since your customer/client is almost certainly going to change their mind about what they want
manage risks which means drawing up a risk list and taking steps each week to avoid or minimise the impact of the risks.
You will only need a project management scheduling tool such as MS Project when you are doing the planning and monitoring.
The technical part of scheduling tasks using a tools is the easy part. The hardest part of project management are the things above. One more thing that I've not mentioned is about managing the different human personalities on the team. If that's not done properly then the project is doomed from the start.
I recently wrote an article about project management best practices which you might like to take a look at.
I hope this helps.
