Default Have you got experience of working with a business partner?

I note from my research on the Internet that quite a few people seem to have had bad experiences working with a "Business Partner".

I myself have only ever worked with one business partner, and have had no problems. We have an honesty between us which ensures that there are no problems.

Thats not to say that we dont disagree sometimes, but we each know the other is being honest when raising their points.

Two heads are better than one.....well in my experience anyway........

Please post your experiences - good or bad.

I have been quite fortunate to find my partner and I would say that the most important things are trust, repect and an equal share of the work. I am lucky in that my business partner and I have similar ideals and goals to aim for.

However, I have worked with people in the past where it has been a pretty one-sided partnership. It is important to work as a team and value the skills that another person (or persons) bring.

Disastrous! My old partner and I got too close in our business relationship and just wanted to go in different directions on what seemed like every path. I eventually took over full control and our friendship away from the business is just as strong as ever.
I think the most important point is that you will have disagreements and it is important to know that you can work them out, if not the partnership is doomed at some point.

Wayne, it is good to see that you both had the sense to take action once things started to change between you.

When you go into business with a friend, your friendship is guaranteed to be tested. Sometimes business and pleasure do not mix, but it does depend on the people involved.
