Default home based business?

I am a person who needs to start a business that I can run mostly from my home. My idea is to try and buy general merchandise at liquidation prices and re-sell on ebay or possibly a website.

The problems I have encountered so far:

1. Most liquidation items are "store returns" which are damaged goods in some way and difficult to resell. This is especially true of returned electronics or sporting goods which can't be repaired.

2. Liquidation goods are often goods that people don't want or wont pay fair prices for.

3. Large items such as furniture, office equipment, or mattreses which have larger profit margins are difficult and expensive to ship or store.

4. It is hard to find a reputable source of goods. I have tried liquidation.com but havent been too impressed yet. Randomly searching through google seems risky.

Advice would be appreciated to point me in the right direction!

Thanks,

Finding something to sell can't be that hard. Just trawl through eBay's 'most popular' and after deciding on a product go to a wholesaler and open an account, but you'll have to buy lots of product.

The other method, if you don't want to invest much is to trawl flea markets for gems that might sell. I have looked into a lot of things like that but too numerous to list here.

If you want a list of the 'Business to Business' trade forums I can post that but they'll expect you to invest tens of thousands too.

Try going to some of the craft clubs in your area and offer to sell their goods. You'll need to buy them first but if you are careful about your selections you might do well out of it. All hand-made crafts are original and very different from machine manufactured goods.

Florida has a great suggestion. Texas should hook up with him/her (?) and sell Florida's stuff on eBay for ummm him/her.

Anyway Florida, what kind of stuff do you have? Got any pics of it?

Gee, I might just have brokered a commercial union between the great states of Texas and Florida and I'm in Sydney!!!
