I plan on creating business for conceptual art and designs, and id like to make a contract stipulating that the business name and purpose are to be copyrighted to me.
I have been told to write a letter of intent and send it to myself, but im not quite sure what template i would use. I have found one: http://www.allbusiness.com/forms/asp/422753p.asp but considering the business has not been created and does not exist, i cannot purchase it.

If anyone could help me out i would be very grateful.

Okay, sorry if my post was un clear, you can tell im really not familiar with what im talking about.

Anyways, i would like to copyright a business name, so that i may use it for a business after i get a business license and start it. I dont want the name to be taken, and a friend of mine told me to mail myself a letter of intent, not quite sure wat i need to do.

Ah, now I understand. Don't waste your time with the letter. It will not accomplish anything.

Instead, you need to pick a few names and then check them against business filings in your county and state. If you go to the secretary of state page for your state, you should be able to do a business name search to see if anyone is using them. The search should be free.

If no conflicts come up, you should then go to the city or county offices for your area and search the d.b.a (doing business as) filings. If one of the names is available, you can file your own dba application to reserve the name. If you really want to be thorough, you should also conduct a search on the Patent and Trademark Office site [uspto.gov] to make sure nobody has trademarked the name.

Once you reserve the name, you should be good to go.

I didn't realize that Israel edits info. Imagined Israel is democracy, somewhat, until stumbled at Jewrusalem: Israeli Uncensored News website www.jewrusalem.org/en .
