I would totally agree with cbs on this. I ordered a bunch of cards from Vista Print and while the quality of the print was fine I did not get the coating on the card. I am now left with a lot of cards that are starting to fade since the card is printed with a full black background. Now I am wondering if I should gear up a new card and discard my old ones.

Well.. for as bad as it was... it got this kind of press... too bad you blocked out the name.... it worked for them… exposure... what is purpose for a biz card if not for exposure, to talk, bitch if necessary. Does the ad… Applied directly to the forehead count? It really doesn’t make any difference if it's printed on great paper with wonderful ink... or toilet paper... if it calls someone to action; brings top of mind awareness.. well, maybe a design overlook might be in order. Don't get lost in the part. Does it do what it was intended to do or not? If not, it's bad (and it may really be!). If so, it worked... I have seen some weird business cards out there, but they work...

I'll have to agree with PeterBrusso on this one. There's an old saying that there's no such thing as bad publicity. It referred to publicity for Hollywood celebrities, but to a lesser extent it applies to us all.

I recently received a business card from a Paint &Wallpaper guy and you know what? It didn't have a logo. Just the words "Paint & Wallpaper" in cursive at the top center, his name at the lower left and his phone number at the lower right. That's it. Oh, and the card was actually a sticker. Not a magnet, a dang old sticker! Guess what? He has all the business he needs.

There's another old saying that when your only tool is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail. Some of the more design-centric types see a huge need for more designer services. Go ahead and take that the wrong way, I know y'all will. I certainly appreciate the value of good design. After all, I bought a $20 hammer a couple of weeks ago and it's the best hammer I've ever owned because it was designed well. Not the logo or the colors, but the actual DESIGN of the tool.
