I'm currently a SB owner and I'm considering a second venture to do with advertising. I'm curious if the services I offer my clients are primarily advertising exposure, if they in turn can write off my fees to advertising costs at tax time. If so I most definitely want to make them aware of this as an upside

Yes, every business can write off "marketing expenses". By doing so, you have to keep track of all your expenses and have original receipts. Then at the end of the year you'd need to total sum spent on the advertising and marketing services and give a number to your CPA.

You can write off the following for tax deduction :

1. Logo design, web site design, stationery design, brochure design, print at design (if you hired a professional designer or a design company)

2. You printed something (like your business cards). Save that receipt from your printer and at the end of the year you can deduct that expense from your taxes

3. If you purchased a new or used computer (but it's new for you). The computer can be written off for only 5 years.

4. If you operate out of your home (a home based business) and you have a dog, you can write off your dog's expnses to the vet. The dog is classified as a security system.
