Default New Marketing Techniques?

Hello everyone,

Since my business is marketing, it's going to be difficult not to make this sound like spam. I'll do my best though.

I'm wondering if anyone has come across any "New" marketing techniques. By new, I mean non-traditional, cutting edge stuff.

I've tried banners, newsletters, etc. Some have worked better than others, but I'm much more interested in things that haven't been worn out yet.

For example, I create software for businesses and they distribute demo versions for free, drawing customers to their site. Then they sell the software and profit from it.

What I am looking for is a similar service that I can use to draw customers to my own site. It could be as simple as a webpage, or something much more complicated, but I'm having trouble finding *anything*.

So, if you've come across something that you think fits the bill, I'd love to hear it, and I'm sure everyone else here would too.

Don't know why people hate spam so much, you can delete the mail if you don't like just as you throw away flyers in your mailbox.

I find some spam mails useful sometimes, but 90% usless. However I am not offended.

Just a sharing

After looking through your website I noticed you have an affiliate program. Why don't you kick that up a notch. Although not a very new idea, Affiliate marketing has gotten huge! There are thousands of websites generating 25-50% of business through their affiliate program.

You have a great product, although there is some competition if done right you could easily beat the pants off of them.

Any kind of money is good enough for me. I'm not looking to earn lots of cash, I'm just simply trying get the business started and get the word out. Hence, our package deals are really inexpensive. So like package A is 100$, package B is $250, ...and so on. Since I don't really undersatnd anything about advertising...I'm currently reading up on it on the web. Any good sources you know that has good articles, how-to, tutorials on advertising?

You were saying that advertising is hard work and needs lot of money. For a web development startup , what kind of advertising do you recommend? He didn't talk a lot about "how" he was going to advertise. Just that he was gunna use a mailing list, the city ad magazine, and a few online forums in fact. Something tells me he's kinda shady.
