A business writer communicates your message to your target audience to get you the results you want.
Think about your junk mail or those long websites that go on forever trying to sell you something. Some get your attention and keep you reading, even if you have no interest in what they're selling, while others don't get or keep your attention at all.
That's the big difference a professional business writer (a.k.a copywriter or marketing writer) makes -- they get results.
Some call copywriters "salesmen in print."
It's true that almost anyone can write, but there's an art to knowing what to say and how to say it to get people to respond (buy, call, subscribe -- whatever your goal is).
And there's something to be said about using proper spelling, grammar, etc. and this affects your image and credibility. This goes along with that old saying, You only get one chance to make a first impresion.
Also, if you had to create a brochure, press release, etc. for your business, you're going to stare at a blank screen for hours not knowing what to say, or spend hours searching the internet trying to figure out how to format it, how to submit it, etc. A business writer knows what to do and gets the job done in a fraction of the time. And writers love to write so our computer screens don't stay blank for long.
