Default Credit card lost, what to do?

I was wandering if some one could give me some really good tips on what to do if I loose a credit card?

I know the general stuff like ring your bank, but is there any others that I should do?

Firts and most important thing is to let your bank know the situation and stop all transactions from that credit card. You can also change your credit card on file with different vendors like ebay, paypal etc to ensure your recurring payments will not be affected.

In addition, check your credit report over the next few months to make sure nothing is on there that shouldn't be. Not really a mandatory step, but better safe than sorry.

Here's a link to the Federal Trade Commision article on the topic:

One of the things I did, when my card was used, was put a "Fraud Alert" on my credit reports. This way if someone tries to use your information to open new accounts, then they will have to call your phone number on file, to make sure YOU are the one applying for credit. It will make it harder for you to get credit as well, but make it even harder for the bad guys to use your credit to buy things......

Craztel that sounds good I have never heard of that, so I shal ring my back and inquire about it to see if I can get it sorted just for more protection.

I shouldnt of lost my card in the first place! It causes so much hassle.

Also you can request to have you numbers changed on a new card they send you. All your pertenant info would still be the same, but just in case a person wanted to wait awhile to see if there was some activity on your card again and they could sneak in their own purchases, you can have brand new numbers that no one can access but you.

Nothing can be more important than blocking your credit cad by your bank. They are the most potent tool to stop any kind of fraud.

Just ring your Bank . They will handle the later part. But in most countries you may have to repost it the police too.
