Default Start up question

I'm starting an LLC in NJ and planned on using an online LLC kit. Should I be my own registered agent, or should I use a service. The company is a small building company. Any advice is appreciated.

your company they know who to contact. That's you anyway, so my pay someone else to do it for you?

It's nothing more. Just a contact person. I just setup an LLC for a client in Florida and it's a simple process. You will need to determine if you want to be structured as a manager Operated or Member Operated LLC. That's a subject all in itself.

The best place for low cost, attorney written "How To Books" is nolo.com

I've been using their "How To" legal books for nearly 35 years.

This is the BST book available on the subject:
“Form Your Own Limited Liability Company”
by Attorney Anthony Mancuso (I buy this book each year for the updates)

Here is where I send my NJ clients for FREE accurate state info on setting up a business:

and

File your LLC online YOURSELF without an attorney.

On a side not. You can get your EIN (Employers IRS TAX ID Number) over the phone in a few minutes for FREE. No need to pay anyone. Just go to the IRS website, call the EIN dept. # and they will walk you through the form and immediately give you your Number over the phone. Companies charge $75 to $200 to do what you can do in 10 minutes, yourself!

Regards,
Maverick
