I would look at the lists of franchises. Even if you just take their ideas and do something similar without actually buying the franchise.

Post your list of things that you like to do and someone might be able to help you come up with an idea.
for instance if you like to:
draw....you could possibly draw the design of an house and sell it to an
architecture
read..... proof read college students papers and to increase your money offer
to type it for them for a fee. Post some eye catching flyers up tp
market yourself and talk to professors so they can recommend you.
skateboarding....... give skateboarding lessons...make sure they have their
own insurance though
clubbin'.......... u like the club?....start a news letter and website that tells
visitors, tourist, & locals about the clubs and bars in town as wells as out of town. Each month feature a HOT alcoholic drink recipe given by your readers. Include a article or two of anything under the sun and a section called HOT PERSON OF THE MONTH (make sure he/she is cute though) and give them to hotels, restaurants, colleges, malls, any place with tourist to hand out to their guest. Get small companies, clubs, and hotels, etc to advertise in it(charge them a fee-this is where your money comes in at.) Name the newspaper something like....the club scene or get your groove on.
Don't limit your distance......young people will travel to get to a hot and poppin club.
As far as the website....take camera scenes of the club (during busy hours) and let people take virtual tours of each club. Charge the club for this advertising. Be sure to put the Link on the new letter too.

You just need a little imagination to think of something to do with the things you like!!!

waddle I think it's hard to recommend a business to someone else since you really can turn anything into a business. Part of the do what you love thing is it can help define some business ideas as well as keep you foused during the lean times.

I can understand though if you don't want to start a business based on some of your interests.

You can check out http://entrepreneur.com/ or http://www.inc.com/ for ideas. They usually have plenty of lists of top online businesses or top franchises. All sorts of advice. Looking through the site might generate some ideas.

Hello,
The wish to open business is important but not the only thing to consider. I would recommend you to set your goals and understand what you are interesting the most. It would be also nice to write everything on paper as well as due date for every goal. It will be much clear for you after that. You can start reading more information after you choose the right business for you. There are many type of business you can start. The thing is not to start is to follow and be persistent in what you do.

So what are your options if you want to start a business?
There are several different types of businesses you can start. Here are some of them and the advantages/disadvantages to each of them it is for you to choose:
1. Traditional Business
This is what most people think of when they think of a business. You have a storefront and/or an office and you are offering products and/or services. The advantage of a traditional business is that you have total control and can do what you want. The disadvantage is that it takes thousands of dollars to get started and months, if not years to make your money back.
2. Franchise
This is similar to a traditional business in that with a franchise you also have a storefront and/or office where you offer products and/or services. The difference and also the advantage is that you are buying into a proven system that has already been established for you. All you have to do is follow the system. The disadvantage is that it takes thousands of dollars to get started, months if not years to make your money back and you don’t have a lot of control and flexibility.
3. Direct Sales/Network Marketing (MLM) – These are businesses that you can operate out of the comfort of your own home where you get paid for selling a product or a service. Examples include selling CDs on EBay, selling bio-products and makeup, selling electronic books on the internet and much more! Some of these do not come with a proven system, like a traditional business. Others do come with a proven system like a franchise. The key advantage with a direct sales and/or network marketing opportunity is that it usually a low cost start up amount of dollars to get started and you can make your money back in months or even days! The disadvantage is that there are a lot of scams out there that have given these types of businesses a bad name and you really have to do your research to make sure you have a legitimate business and not a scam.

Hi waddle, If your not really sure what kind of business you would like to get into. Try and think of something where you can narrow your competion. It might sound impossible, but with thought and determination you can do it.

You must have something you enjoy doing or know a great deal about.
What was your job? What's your hobby? Start brainstorming, write down a simple business plan. Calbulate your budget. But the important thing is start doing it.

Hope that helps.
