Going directly to the "edge" you mentioned. If you are competing on price alone, then you are at the mercy of who can offer the most service for the lowest price. You don't want to get "pigeon-holed" there.
If you really want to get an edge, offer more advantages to advertising on your site. By creating more value in their investment, you will not have to focus your attention on the $7 wk, or whatever fixed price. Advertisers will not mind spending a few extra dollars a week, if they know the ROI, service, and their advertising dollar is well spent.
