I guess I should just start from the beginning. My boyfriend is getting me a digital camera for my birthday, and I just bought some design software that does newsletters, brochures, etc., and though it's not my trade and I don't have a degree, I'm a pretty good web designer with knowledge of CSS and HTML (my friend could help me with php if it came today, or I can always buy a book). I was thinking about starting a service that can help you build portfolios and/or websites showcasing business items (like for real estate, fledgling businesses, fashion designers and seamstresses who wish to show-off their worl), and personal items (families who'd like to create albums for their children, family trees, etc.). I haven't really seen this sort of thing where I am, and the closest thing is maybe a photographer, and not everyone can afford such prices. Does this sound like a good idea, or is it too much? What are good ideas for a young entrepreneur who is pretty good at photography?

Hmm -- it seems a bit unique but essentially your focusing "website development" for individuals and families versus small businesses. I tried doing something similar and most individuals/families don't want Web sites, and most would just use one of those photo sites to "showcase" their photos.

You could try selling photography services for businesses, such as taking pictures of items for a catalog. Also, random stock photography can be good.

I think that would probably be better, just focusing on small businesses and designers and seamstresses. thanks for your help!
