I think I'm onto a winner.
Hello!
I think I have a great idea that I believe might really take off. I thought of it because it is something I need/want, and is something quite useful that hasn't been thought of yet. I wont say exactly what it is, but I will say it is in women's fashion, and will be mostly used during summer (which for me, being in Australia, is coming up in a few months). It has a HUGE market. Now my plan, is to:
1.)Import about 50 of these items, and sell them on ebay to gauge how well the market receives them. I don't want to invest thousands initially if I'm just plain wrong and no one wants them (I am also running another business).
2.)If they do well, I will import many more and set up a website to sell them off. I need a MASSIVE marketing campain to get the message out there before summer ends. So far I have thought of
- google ads
- advertising on fashion forums
- continue to sell via ebay and direct people to my website from there also
- competitions "win one a week, enter by telling 5 friends about ...."
Now my questions are, what else can I do to get my product out there?
And, if I were to sell wholesale to fashion outlets, what sort of mark-up should they get? I have heard of keystone pricing, but this seems like not quite enough of a mark-up for them. What do you think?
Thanks for reading Oh and sorry for not posting an intro first, I have been reading these forums for months and I'm just so excited about my idea I wanted to post right away.
