I saw news story the other day about a 9 year old girl who started a pet grooming and pet supply business (with help from mom and dad) and her partner her 14 year old sister generates $40,000 in sales! Can you imagine how rich shes gonna be when shes older and smarter?

They reported her 3 best ways of getting customers was word of mouth advertising, Email marketing (newsletters and ezines) and direct mail...

Now I wonder how much she actually keeps, after mom and dad??

This child is lucky to have parents who encourage her to be an entrepreneur at such a youngs age. This is something we should keep in mind.

Looking at 40,000 in sales might sound good now...(and it's great for a 9 year old)....but after expenses we all know it's not near that much. Also...I don't know if they are working out of their home...but for the business to get much bigger...it will mean lots of additional expenses for a building...insurance...utilities...etc. down the line.

That is extremely impressive. I know that my yealy sales when I was 9 totaled around $15 from my lemonade stand. I agree with Kalinda, for the business to grow that will have to make it over the hump of buildings, utilities, etc. Good story though.

that inspirational to kids, but definetly depressing to people who make less than that 9 year old girl.
